Still, it needs to be pre-drilled first, and the pre-drilled diameter should be slightly smaller than the pointed tail diameter to ensure the formation of appropriate friction. The advantage of flat-tail self-tapping screws is that they are easy to install without pre-drilling; while pointed-tail self-tapping screws are easier to fix on thinner plates. However, the installation of pointed-tail self-tapping screws requires additional pre-drilling time and cost, which may increase the overall time and cost in large projects. Therefore, when choosing self-tapping screws, it is necessary to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of flat tail and pointed tail according to the specific material characteristics and project requirements and make the most suitable choice.
